This morning from 9:00 a.m. on the tennis court of the Saturnino Romero Chacón Sports Center, the first Tennis Tournament in Herrera del Duque 2023 was held.
14 tennis players from Herrera and other towns in the region participated in the sporting event. The tournament has been characterized by the variety of ages among the players, the youngest being 15 years old and the oldest being 42 years old, they faced each other for the tournament in the “main and secondary rounds” mode chosen through a draw allowing the (surprise factor) to establish the turns of each player. During the tournament everyone has shown great skills and passion for tennis.
This tennis tournament is the first to be held so far this year. The city council has organized this event with the aim of stimulating participation and attendance, both among fans and students of this sporting discipline. In addition, it makes it possible to publicize the different sports offers and structures equipped for the practice of sports in the Herrereño municipality.
The final of the tournament was played between the players David Alcázar and Javier Delgado, winning as champion. At 19 years of age, this young man from Castilblanco has shown determination and potential, in the semifinals Pedro Ramírez and Samuel Muñoz and in the league the runners-up Ángel Alcázar and Guillermo Calero.
The mayor president, Saturnino Alcázar Vaquerizo, councilor Eva Acevedo and councilor Gonzalo Romero presented the awards.
It has been a great Tennis Tournament where 14 people gave their best without the freezing temperatures today preventing the development of the tournament, which took place normally from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. hours.
